ATOM47

This keyboard is actually a modification to a commercial keyboard – the Vortex Core.  The Core has a nice quality to it and the size is great. It is however not very programmable and the layout is not for everyone’s liking. The ATOM47 is a replacement PCB for this keyboard which extends it with full QMK programmability and RGB underglow (if you decide to go for an acrylic case instead of the existing Core Alu case). the PCB comes with everything soldered on except for the switches – so basically a very easy build.

In the picture above, you can see my Vortex Core on top and the ATOM47 below – yes it is the same (except for the ATOM not having the updated keycaps).

Specs

  • Layout: 40% staggered
  • Keycaps: PBT DSA keycaps (from Vortex)
  • Case: Original Vortex Core Alu Case
  • Switches: Kailh Box Royal Purple (very tactile)
  • Firmware: QMK custom layout
  • Built: June 2018

Are there actually any aftermarket cases (acrylic, aluminum, polycarb, wood, etc.) for the Vortex Core? I can’t find anything anywhere for mine 🙁

I haven’t come across any. I use another vortex core for mine.
